Experience
- Extensive experience with sensor systems.
- Designed and evaluated the physical, thermal, control, and electronic aspects of a precision thermal system for Biomedical reaction instrumentation at Idexx Labs. Specified and evaluated a Design of Experiments laboratory test for the same thermal control system. Demonstrated ability to design and fabricate working analog systems: Two temperature sensing and drive circuits while at Idexx, innumerable ones before
- PID controls, discreet and computer based.
- Filtering and amplification to deal with small S/N ratios. Several front-end designs for IR systems.
- Debugging and evaluation of analog systems.
- Analog circuit simulation and testing: Used Spice, Maple, and Octave to simulate error/tolerance analysis of temperature, pressure, etc
- Software control of analog systems (LabVIEW): From 1996-2000 designed and programmed J1850 test systems for Daimler-Chrysler.
- Modulation/demodulation techniques: Worked with RF and multiplexed mixed signal processing on several designs and detailed noise analyses.
- Designed, bought, used A/D conversions at all levels of precision ranging from 8-24 bits.
- Signal Processing: Specified Signal Processing from front-end through computer: Sensors ►Analog Signal Processing ►Digital Signal Processing.
- Enhanced medium speed Analog Signal Processing circuits. Designed Error correcting codes to reduce errors due to manual entry of data by operators.
- Designed J1850 and CAN communications bus testing and test equipment for DaimlerChrysler.
- Analysis using Wavelet Transforms to sharpen the accuracy and sensitivity of Knock detection in vehicles.
- Programs used for data collection, reduction, analysis, and presentation: Labview, MatLab, Octave, SciLab, and MathCad.
- Hardware and Software design tasks related to a new line of Infrared Gas Analyzers. Verified and corrected 68332 design, including some TPU coding. Designed data acquisition interfaces and control systems.
- Performed circuit, software and mathematical consultations. Companies included Altamont Technologies and Humphrey Instruments.
- Hardware Design Manager at Andros Analyzers in charge of 4 Engineers, 3 technicians, and 5 hardware and software consultants. Responsible for the design and manufacturability of the Infrared Gas Analyzer line. Before assuming the Management position designed the electronics and software architecture for several of the company's products.
